How this calculator works
THX recommends about a 40 degree viewing angle, roughly screen diagonal = distance / 1.2. SMPTE suggests a more relaxed 30 degrees, roughly distance / 1.6. With 1080p sources we cap the immersive size a little, because sitting that close can show pixels.
