Recommended seating distance by screen size
55 inch	THX about 5.5 ft, SMPTE about 7-9 ft
65 inch	THX about 6.5 ft, SMPTE about 8-11 ft
75 inch	THX about 7.5 ft, SMPTE about 9.5-12.5 ft
85 inch	THX about 8.5 ft, SMPTE about 10.5-14 ft
100 inch	THX about 10 ft, SMPTE about 12.5-16.5 ft
Rule of thumb	THX: 1.2 x diagonal. SMPTE: 1.5-2 x diagonal
Fixed seat at 10 ft	about 100 in immersive, 60-80 in comfortable
